Today I have read the article about uses of Al-Mg-Si: A New Protective Coating for Steel on Ships and Offshore Structures.
In a recent study published in Corrosion Science, scientists developed a new protocol for coating Al-Mg-Si steel.
In this study, the researchers took aluminized steel and coated it with magnesium using a technique called physical vapor deposition. The coating was then exposed to a high temperature of 375 ° C. They then characterized the coating film and carried out a "salt spray" corrosion test. They found that corrosion products also formed in two layers: a surface layer composed mainly of aluminum-based corrosion products and an internal corrosion layer composed of aluminum, magnesium and silicon-based products. Corrosion products created a "shielding effect", which further improved their anti-corrosion properties.

I think this research is very important for the conservation of energy and environmental resources.
Summary: This study shows how highly corrosion resistant steel can be obtained simply by changing the surface treatment protocol, resulting in a longer service life for marine vessels.

Today I have read the article about a new way of cleaning factory emissions from carbon dioxide and producing useful products.
Carbon dioxide can be extracted from stacks and used to create commercially valuable chemicals thanks to a new compound developed through a scientific collaboration led by a researcher at Oregon State University.
MOF is an inorganic-organic hybrid, crystalline porous material composed of positively charged metal ions surrounded by organic "linker" molecules, in this case lanthanide metals and tetracarboxylate linkers.
Cyclic carbonates are widely used in industry, including as polar solvents, precursors for polycarbonate materials such as eyeglass lenses and digital discs, electrolytes in lithium batteries, and precursors for pharmaceuticals.

I think that the topic of this article is very relevant not only in the field of new materials, but also in the field of ecology and economics.
Summary: The ability to directly use carbon dioxide from unclean sources saves the cost and energy of separating it before it can be used to produce cyclic carbonates, which will be a boon for the green economy.

Comment:
Today I have read the article “An abusive boss today might mean a better boss tomorrow”.
The Michigan State University study focuses on the impact of abusive bosses on their employees and how bosses respond to their own abusive behavior. The focus should be on understanding why bosses do these things and how it affects them. The positive is the study suggests that supervisors realize when they have been abusive toward their subordinates and feel guilty about it. Contexts can be created to prevent this abuse.
In my opinion, abusive behavior in the workspace by bosses and their subordinates interferes with productive work and can lead to the loss of skilled employees.
Summary:
This article discusses the problem of abusive behavior of bosses and ways to prevent it.

Today I read the article ‘A fresh look at nuclear energy’ ’. The article points out that nuclear energy is the largest source of low-carbon energy in the United States and Europe and the second largest source in the world (after hydropower). Not without obstacles. Namely, the growth in the cost of nuclear power plants. But there is good news as well. Their price can be reduced not only due to direct equipment costs, but also due to associated building structures. As a result, renewable nuclear energy is not mutually exclusive, but complementary.

Comment:
Today I read the article "Nuclear energy is the most reliable source of energy and not even close to it." Nuclear energy in America is the main source of energy for two million Americans, as it was more than sixty years ago. Nuclear power plants calculate capacity over 93% of the time during the year. It is important to understand that for one generation of electricity with nuclear power plants, there are two generations of coal-fired power plants, or three or four generations of a renewable power plant. Therefore, nuclear power is an important carrier of energy throughout the world.

Today I have read the article about scientists have invented a lead-free composite shielding material for neutrons and gamma rays.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences has recently developed a lead-free composite shielding material for neutrons and gamma rays, which has high shielding properties and is environmentally friendly.
The researchers first studied the shielding mechanism using the rare earth element gadolinium, and then applied coupling agents to modify the Gd2O3 surface to improve the interfacial compatibility and dispersion of the Gd2O3 in the matrix.
The principle of operation of the radiation protection system is as follows: fast neutrons collide inelastically with gadolinium and elastically collide with hydrogen until they become thermal neutrons, finally absorbed by the element Gd with high Z and boron.

I think, this new radiation shielding material for mixed neutron-gamma fields will soon find its way into many industrial applications.
Summary: The complex shielding characteristics of the new material are better than those of a conventional boron and polyethylene collimating screen, and it is suitable for a neutron and gamma spectrum diagnostics system, and will also be further investigated and upgraded.

Comment:
Today I have read the article “Making social change efforts more effective”.
The new book "Measuring Social Change: Effectiveness and Accountability in a Complex World" by AlnoorEbrahim, professor of management at the Fletcher School and Tisch College of Civic Life, describes how having a clear strategy can help leaders in social change organizations assess and improve their performance. There are three questions: the value proposition, the model for social change, and the internal terms of accountability. The answers to these three questions together are the strategy of social organization.
In my opinion, formalization of the work strategy of organizations engaged in social change is necessary for their successful work.
Summary:
The article discusses a new strategy for the effective operation of social projects, which should be adhered to by everyone from ordinary employees to board members and sponsors.

https://phys.org/news/2018-09-controversial-species-abundance-population-density.html
Comment :
Today I read an article titled “New light on the controversial question of species abundance and population density.” American scientists have teamed up with Mexican scientists for a mutual understanding of the truth in connection with the debate on the relationship between population density and position in geographic areas and ecological niches. Other scientists dispute this theory, citing non-adherence to a specific protocol or sampling plan, as well as neglect of certain parts of geographic species for which extensive data were not available. Therefore, scientists, for now, refer to the unresolved issue of this issue.
Summary :
In my opinion that in order to resolve environmental and geographic problems, it is necessary to carefully consider the problem in practice and involve more and more specialists in this field.

Today I have read the article about machine learning is used to predict the synthesis of complex new materials.
Researchers have successfully applied machine learning to control the synthesis of new nanomaterials. A highly skilled algorithm analyzed a specific dataset to accurately predict new structures that could power processes in the clean energy, chemical and automotive industries.
The data generation tool, dubbed "mega-library", was invented by Professor Mirkin and greatly expands the researcher's field of vision. Each Megalibrary contains millions or even billions of nanostructures, each with a slightly different shape, structure and composition, positionally encoded on a chip measuring two by two square centimeters.

I think the Megalibrary technology has the potential to drive discovery in many areas critical to the future, including plastic recycling, solar cells, superconductors and qubits.
Summary: Invented machine learning applications are ideal for solving complex problems related to the definition and analysis of the genome of materials, but are limited by the ability to create datasets for training algorithms in space, which will be solved in the future.

Today I have read the article «A graphical method of cumulative differences between two subpopulations».
In this article presented comparing the differences in outcomes (that is, in “dependent variables”) between two subpopulations which are similar according to “independent variables.”
The traditional method of averaging is to bin the data according to the scores and plot the average outcome in each bin against the average score in the bin.
Experimental results demonstrate that the graphs of cumulative differences avoid explicitly making a trade-off between statistical confidence and resolution as a function of score—a trade-off that is inherent to the traditional binned diagrams.

Today I have read the article «Greatmartyr, victory-bearer, and wonderworker George». The article tells us about St George. He was a talented officer and amazed the world by his military exploits. St George received the crown of martyrdom on April 23, 303. Of the many miracles worked by St George, the most famous are depicted in iconography. He is known as Victory Bearer, not only for his military achievements, but for successfully enduring martyrdom. Often he was depicted on the white horse. In my opinion this article is rather interesting because there were some facts about his horse
Summary
This article reviewed the classic image of St George and some of his miracles

Today I have read the article « Shakespeare’s horses: nags, jades and steeds, or wonders of nature». The article tells us about horses were in Shakespeare’s day. The part of this information is from Topsell’s History of Four-Footed Beasts. This encyclopedia of animals is 586 pages long, of which the section on horses takes up 120 pages. Horses have been bred and kept by man for millennia, for a whole variety of purposes. After thousands of years, within a few decades people lost our connection with horses. In my opinion this article shows the horse’s meaning in historical retrospective
Summary
This article showed that many of Shakespeare’s mentions of horses relate to the close bond between a rider and a horse.
